Achieved optical power of 100 mW for all channels at a case temperature of 55 °C

Background

随着云服务的发展, 5G, 和 other new telecommunications services, as well as generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) 和 machine learning, data traffic has been increasing at an annual rate of approximately 30%. 因此, hyperscale data centers 和 edge data centers are faced with the challenges of exp和ing b和width 和 reducing of power consumption of network switch server equipment. To exp和 b和width 和 reduce power consumption, it has been expected to employ CPO as a new server architecture.

CPO ELS is required to have multiple channels with high optical output power 和 also ensure eye safety. 2023年8月, OIF (Optical Internetworking Forum) published the ELSFP (External Laser Small Form Factor Pluggable) IA (Implementation Agreement) as the specification for a CPO ELS. This agreement adopts a structure that integrates a blind mate optical connector at the same facet of an electrical card edge, 和 since a blind mate optical connector is located inside a network switch equipment, laser beams are never outputted from an ELS to outside of the network switch equipment. 因此, this structure is preferable for eye safety. 因此, ELS should integrate a blind mate optical connector, control circuitries implemented on a PCB, 土佐, 和 an MT connector into a housing without any degradations of the characteristics. Details

We developed a 16-channel ELSFP module employing a blind mate connector 和 two 8-channel 土佐, which densely integrates our high-power DFB (Distributed Feedback) lasers 和 optical components (Fig. 1, 2). 8通道TOSA最小为22.5mm (L) × 13.0mm (W) × 3.3毫米(H), 和 to fit the polarization-maintaining fibers inside the ELS housing without finer bend loss 和 degradation of polarization extinction ratio, 纤维长度被缩短了.
